The Charles Gates Dawes House is the home of the Evanston History Center. It is located next to Dawes Park, near the lakefront on Greenwood Street.
Parking
Street parking (free on Sundays) is available on Greenwood Street and along Sheridan Road, just east of the Dawes House.
Public Transit
CTA Purple Line train to the Dempster stop; walk 1/2 block north to Greenwood and then five blocks east to the venue.
Metra’s Union Pacific North line stops at Davis Street/Evanston, which is a 15-20 minute walk from the venue.
Accessibility
The accessible entrance (wheelchair lift) is located on the west side of the building. Guests with accessbility needs should drop off using the driveway on the west side of the building. The event will take place on the first floor only (all one level), with an accessible rest room on that florr.

Driving Directions
From the north: Take Sheridan Road (follow Sheridan’s route on to Forest Avenue in Evanston); turn left on Greenwood Street.
Or take I-94 east to exit 37B for Dempster Street East. Follow Dempster to Ridge; turn left (north) on Ridge one block to Greenwood. Turn right (east) on Greenwood and travel nine blocks to the venue.
From the south: Take Lake Shore Drive to Sheridan Road (follow Sheridan’s route on to Forest Avenue in Evanston); turn right on Greenwood Street.
From the west: Take I-294 north to exit 44A for Dempster Street East. Follow Dempster to Ridge; turn left (north) on Ridge one block to Greenwood. Turn right (east) on Greenwood and travel nine blocks to the venue.
