A Special Invitation from Baritone and Program Manager Matthew Brennan - Chicago a cappella

Now that our first two performances of the 2025-26 season have come and gone, I’m taking a breather and reflecting on my personal journey with Chicago a cappella.

You may be familiar with me as one of the voices that makes up Chicago a cappella. I began singing with the group in 2022. What started as a job (a very exciting job!) has become something much more significant to me. It has become a musical home: an environment full of warmth and support. It has become a purpose: a vehicle through which I can work to advocate for exemplary ensemble singing. And it has become an even bigger job; this summer, in addition to singing with Chicago a cappella, I’ve joined the staff as our new Program Manager.

As Program Manager, I’m now responsible for much of the supportive work that goes into presenting the world-class singing that Chicago a cappella is known for. I’m also taking charge of our education outreach initiatives, which will let me contribute to the continued appreciation of and love for the music that Chicago a cappella makes. All of these new responsibilities—though quite distinct from rehearsing and singing with this ensemble—stem from and feed into the same passion that caused me to audition for Chicago a cappella in the first place.

I have found Chicago a cappella to be a tremendous environment for growth as a musician, an individual, a community member, a professional, and a person. My evolution with the ensemble is one very specific example of the impact this organization can have. That impact is only possible because of folks who support our mission, like you. I want to invite you to deepen your relationship with Chicago a cappella by signing up for a membership today, or buying a ticket for one of our 2025-26 concerts.
