My name is Daniela, I am the Marketing & Production Coordinator for Chicago a cappella. You may have seen me working the box office and taking some video at our concerts in the past, but my role here has grown into something much more meaningful.
My journey with this incredible organization began four years ago when I joined as an intern. At the time, I had just pivoted and taken a leap to work in the music industry. I never saw myself enjoying or even working with classical music, but I was eager to learn. Classical and choral music felt somewhat unfamiliar, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure I belonged in this world as I had never felt welcomed in these spaces. But from the moment I was introduced to Chicago a cappella and the extraordinary caliber of the ensemble, I felt I had found a space where I could grow and open my mind to new music.
What began as a professional opportunity became a self-reflection of my biases and grew into a deep appreciation and passion. Being behind the scenes, from observing rehearsals to watching the music come to life on stage, has given me a profound appreciation for the artistry, precision, and emotion that ensemble music provokes. I continue to be amazed by the talent of our singers and the powerful connection they create with our audiences; I can say this because of the powerful connection I feel every time I hear them perform!
I would love to welcome you as a member at one of our concerts this season. I’m especially excited for our upcoming concert, Cantaré: as a native Spanish speaker, I’ll get to hear the singers in my native language and have this experience in an even more meaningful way. I am also thrilled to learn a piece of rock ‘n’ roll history (my favorite music genre!) through Geoffrey Baer’s narration during our Building American Pop concert series!
