Bound for Glory
New Settings of African-American Spirituals

Our debut recording on the Gothic Records label is a moving and joyous collection of spirituals, featuring new settings of powerful melodies by a host of brilliant and innovative composers.  The program includes four works commissioned by Chicago a cappella and nine world premiere recordings, including pieces by Joseph Jennings, Rollo Dilworth, Paul Crabtree, Paul Carey, and Jonathan Miller.  Chicago a cappella brings passion, power, and beautiful interpretations to these new takes on American musical masterworks.

"I admire the soulful elegance of the singing, and Gothic’s engineering is everything you could want."--American Record Guide
“spirit, commitment, and good musicianship…meticulously assembled and lovingly recorded...Collectively the group is clearly jazzed by the music and treats these beautifully crafted arrangements as the works of art they are.””—Opera News
