CHICAGO A CAPPELLA CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON:

FEATURING WTTW’S GEOFFREY BAER AS GUEST NARRATOR

CHICAGO— Chicago a cappella announces its 25th anniversary season. The acclaimed vocal ensemble kicks off its silver anniversary season with Chicago, Chicago with Geoffrey Baer at the Stage of the Pritzker Pavilion on October 6. December will sparkle with Holidays a cappella: Silver Bells featuring festive tunes both familiar and new to their stage. The concert will be programmed by long-time ensemble member Kathryn Kamp, who says, “In typical Chicago a cappella fashion we'll leverage our vocal and stylistic flexibility as we honor the diversity of repertoire our audiences appreciate.” Following Artistic Director Jonathan Miller’s research in Poland, the ensemble will perform Polish Splendor: Songs and Traditions from the Crossroads of Europe in February.  The season concludes with energetic arrangements by veteran pop-arranger Paul Langford in Dynamic Duos: The Greatest Musical Partnerships.

“This season captures so much of what’s great about Chicago a cappella: superb singers and music directors, programs that dive deeply into history and culture, and at the center of it all, the sheer joy of ensemble singing,” Jonathan Miller says.  Executive Director Matt Greenberg continued, “It’s exciting to have so many new projects as part of our 25th anniversary season.  I think audiences will love the music we’re going to bring them, and they’ll get to experience our singers in some very special venues.”

We celebrate our 25th anniversary with a musical history of the city we call home. With riveting narration by WTTW’s Geoffrey Baer and vivid projections illustrating Chicago’s past, the concert includes songs of early French explorers, daring pioneers, and immigrants who shaped the city. Our singers will delve into music of the Great Migration, the Chicago Fire, the Columbian Exposition, the birth of blues and gospel, our beloved skyscrapers, champion sports teams and more.  Join us for a visually and musically vibrant, sometimes comical, and always fascinating portrait of our great city.
