GEOFFREY BAER OF WTTW JOINS CHICAGO A CAPPELLA IN 25TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT

CHICAGO— Chicago’s “most versatile” and beloved vocal ensemble, Chicago a cappella, opens their 25th anniversary season with a musical tribute to our city titled Chicago, Chicago with Geoffrey Baer. Multi-Emmy winner Geoffrey Baer of WTTW serves as narrator alongside vivid projections illustrating Chicago’s past and present. Prepared by Principal Music Director John William Trotter, the 10-voice ensemble, including Founder and Artistic Director Jonathan Miller who makes his performance return to the group, will guide audiences through a Chicago time capsule that includes historic songs such as “Follow the Drinking Gourd,” a nostalgic “Chicago (That Toddlin’ Town),” and of course “Sweet Home Chicago.”  The ensemble will use these melodies and more to delve into music from the Columbian Exposition (marking its 125th anniversary), the Great Migration, the birth of blues and gospel, our beloved skyscrapers, champion sports teams and more. A special opening-night anniversary celebration will take place Oct. 6 at the stage of the Pritzker Pavilion following the performance.

Chicago, Chicago with Geoffrey Baer will take place Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8:00 pm at the Stage of the Pritzker Pavilion, 201 E. Randolph St., Chicago, IL; Sunday, Oct. 7 at 4:00 pm at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 460 Lake St., Oak Park, IL; Saturday Oct. 20 at 8:00 pm at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave., Evanston, IL; Sunday, Oct. 21, 4:00 pm at Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College, 171 E.
