Dr. Ruth Westheimer is a psychosexual therapist who pioneered speaking frankly about sexual matters on her radio program, Sexually Speaking, in 1980. Since then, she has had much success on television, on the radio, and in print—both in her newspaper column “Ask Dr. Ruth” and in the 40+ books she has written.
In addition to her fame as a sexuality expert, Dr. Ruth is well known as an orphan of the Holocaust and trained sniper for the Jewish freedom fighters. She immigrated to the United States in 1956, earning her Masters and Doctorate in the US before beginning her radio show Sexually Speaking in 1980.
Dr. Ruth became a nationally and internationally celebrated figure and personality, with national television shows, syndicated newspaper columns, and numerous speaking engagements and awards. Dr. Ruth resides in New York and teaches at Columbia University.
